Little Man Mustache Bash
Will,
On December 7th we had a big first birthday party with all of our family and friends stopping by to celebrate you! The theme was 'Little Man' since you have been our little man since the day you were born at a small 4 pounds 6 ounces. The Little Man theme was emphasized with mustaches...why mustaches? because they are so hip right now and you little man are hip :-) There were about 45 people who came to the party and you did a great job of smiling and playing with both adults and kids! In lieu of gifts for you, since you already have so many toys, we asked friends and family to bring a Toy for Tots. I can't believe how many toys we collected! It is pretty awesome and something we may do again in the future.

Tomorrow
To my baby boy,
Tomorrow you turn one. Tonight as I rocked you to sleep tears rolled down my face, as they are now, as I reflect upon your first year. This has been the best year of my life and it is bittersweet to see it come to an end. You are the greatest thing that has ever happened to me and I want you to know that through all the ups and downs that you will face in life and we will face as mother and son that you are everything to me. You have taught me how to love, how to be happy, and most importantly how to live. And I'm not alone. Your father would agree 100% that you have made our love for each other stronger and you have made us a family, a real family.
What is so crazy to think about is that this year is one I will always remember while it is one you will have no recollection of. This makes me sad that I haven't done a better job of documenting this year but I hope that the photos and photo album I plan to make along with the videos we have taken will convey to you how awesome a year it has been.
I love you so much baby boy and tomorrow we are going to celebrate you, your first year, and your future years.
I love you

"You are such a boy"
Over the last few weeks I have stated several times to your dad, myself and friends how 'boy' you are. I of course know that you are actually in fact a boy, I mean I change your diaper several times a day and you even remind me by sometimes using your little man part to give me a little golden shower while I'm trying to change that diaper. But recently you have exhibited behaviors and interests that bring me to the 'nature' vs. 'nurture' of raising a boy. Here are just a few of the 'boy' things that you do:
- You love being naked. You are at your absolute happiest when you are getting dressed and are naked in the morning or naked before, during and immediately after your bath. If it were your choice you would never get dressed...although as winter fast approaches you would probably wise up and let momma get you dressed :-P (check out a couple pics below)
- You laugh at bodily noises. It started a few months ago when we were in Boston and your dad discovered that you laugh at sneezes and sneeze sounds. All we need to do is do a fake 'ah - choo' and you just crack your self right up. It started with you laughing at other people's sneezes but you have since started to laugh at your own sneezes as well. You also laughed at your own burp and fart in the last couple weeks. Mommy and daddy really laughed when you laughed at your own fart. I mean, how could we not?
- You love boy toys: balls and cars. Already, you love crawling after, pushing, kicking and swatting balls. I am really hoping that you get your daddy's hand/eye coordination and not your moms, so that you can get involved with sports. You are also very much into cars, whether its the cars you can push around the floor or real cars that you watch outside. You are fascinated by the movement and sound and you already have mom searching for a 'first' remote control car set (so fun!).
- You love to be outside. You are a nature boy. Your favorite place to be right now is outside on the grass crawling around and eating dirt, leaves, grass and wood chips. Mommy spends all her time at the park, trying to keep all of those things out of your mouth...and I am usually only 90% successful :-) It's ok, a little dirt is good for you, ha. Three Cedars Farm
It is fall, which of course means its time to take a trip to the apple orchard for some cider and donuts, a hayride, pumpkin picking and the petting farm! This was the first time we have been to Three Cedar Farms, which is located in Northville, but I must say that it won't be the last. The donuts and fresh cider were delicious and there is a great play area that you will love next year. The best part of the day was that the pigs made you laugh! The pigs were very very interested in you little man and you thought there grunts and oinks were so funny. Can't wait for next fall when you can tell us what you think of the pigs and run around with the other kids.
Toothers!! (what mommy and daddy call your teeth)
Congrats little man on getting your first tooth on October 6th! Followed by your second on October 9th! While most babies are very un-happy and cause their parents to loose quite a bit of sleep I must say that you for the most part sailed through the pain of your first two teeth!! You were a little bit fussy on Saturday but not enough to make me think you were getting a tooth and then pop! there it was on Sunday! I also saw your second tooth when I got you from your bed on Wednesday morning.
Mommy and daddy are sooo thankful that you have been a pro teether, knock-on-wood that this continues!
As soon as I can get a picture of your toothers I'll post it!

I love you
Dear William Charles and Jack Henry,
I have tried several times over the past several months to put into words the love I have for you and each time Nothing has been sufficient. So while I am sure this post will never truly describe my love for you... Here it goes.
Never in my life did I ever think I would love as deeply as I have for you. My heart is overflowing, overflowing so much that it is all consuming almost in a painful way (I never understood when people said there is a fine line between love and pain until this love I have for you). You are my absolute everything, and everything that stems from the love your daddy and I share but is infinitely more.
Your daddy definitely did his share of filling my heart...but you are a different love. My love for you exists in every breath I take, every thought I have, every movement I make. Being your mom is the greatest gift this life has given me and for the first time I feel my purpose in this world is to be your mom.
I love you forever and my babies you will always be.
Love,
Your mom
Happy 9 Months!
Hi little man!
This month has been a big one! You started crawling!!! Yayy! You started crawling the first few days of September and in just a few days you went from a beginner to an expert!! We were very taken back by how quickly you perfected it your crawling skills. You have always been a happy baby but now that you can crawl you are even happier. You are just so proud of yourself when you crawl to a toy and pick it up all by yourself or if mommy goes into the kitchen or bathroom and you come find me you get so excited you have a little happy squeal. You are also pulling yourself to standing on everything and furniture surfing. You love to stand, almost more than you love to walk, and we know that you are going to be walking as soon as you can.
Your nanny and cousin Emmy went away to college this month so you started going to Mary Williamson's house while mommy works. You seem to really enjoy hanging out with her and she just eats you right up! Mommy and daddy both are happy that you are at her house as you get 100% of her attention and it keeps you away from all the germs of daycare for a little bit longer.
You are eating more and more food each and every day. You are starting to become more independent and prefer to feed yourself cheerios, bread, rice chex and puffs over eating baby food some days. You absolutely love all fruit and sweet foods and are not so sure about vegetables or meats. You absolutely love pasta, we are pretty sure that is your favorite food so far. Not surprising given your parents love of pasta.
So far you don't have any teeth nor are you talking...but we feel like both things are right around the corner. We can't wait until you say both mama and dada...you are starting to make gaga and baba sounds so hopefully it will be soon!
We had your 9-month dr. appt. and you weighed in at 17 pounds 4 ounces, 27 inches tall and your head circumference is 17.5 inches. Dr. Becker (your pediatrician) couldn't be any happier with your development. At this point you have no developmental delays as a result of being a preemie and you are on the full-term baby growth chart. She also commented that you won the 'eye color lottery' because your eye color is so pretty and she commented on your toned physique :-P Overall, she was very smitten with you, almost as much as we are!
Love you little man!

First Tiger's Game
On July 14th we went to your first Tiger's Game! The Tiger's were playing the Texas Rangers and Justin Verlander was pitching. The Tiger's won 5 to 0! Both mom and dad enjoy going to Tiger games and just as we both went to games as kids we think it is important that you have this experience at least once a year. Looking forward to this tradition for many years to come!
Swim Class
Mommy has read quite a few baby books and many of them recommend putting your baby into a swim class. The books say the swim class helps a baby relax, burn some energy and of course get them used to water. So in early April I signed you up for a swim class at the Summit in Canton. You couldn't start class until you were 6 months old...but luckily the summer session started June 19, just one day after your 6 month birthday. From the first class to the eighth you absolutely LOVED swimming! You smiled and laughed and flirted with the swim teacher and lifeguards. At the beginning of each class you weren't too sure exactly what was happening but by the end you didn't want to get out of the pool. You didn't like swimming on your back but were happy swimming on your tummy and splashing or jumping in the water. We also discovered that you love the 'wheels on the bus' song. Especially the 'the windshield wipers go swish swish swish, all through the town' line. Since discovering this we use the song to calm you and get you to stop crying :-) We also had a blast at swim class as both mom and dad went in the pool with you so that we could take turns holding you as you learned to kick and splash. We are already looking forward to next year's class and I'm sure you will love it even more then! (PS. Big thanks to your cousin Lexi for taking all the photos at swim class!)
Happy 8 Months!
Dear Little Man -
I missed writing a 7 month post...so this is going to be a combined one :-) I have attached pictures of both your 7 and 8 months and can't believe how much you have changed already little dude! You are growing so quickly and we are having so much fun watching you transform from a baby to a toddler. The last two months have been very busy ones for you and us as a family. You will see in life that the summer's seem to just fly by here in Michigan and this one even more so than others.
We have really embraced summer activities and have gone on vacation twice, once to Empire, Michigan and the second time to Boston. We have also taken you to your first Detroit Tiger's Game as well as your first Boston Red Sox Game. We have spent a few Wednesdays at noon going to music in the park along with Friday night music in the air concerts in Kellogg Park. Mommy also took you on a play date to the zoo and we attended a baby and kids music class.
While we have taken you to many different places, your most favorite experience all summer is your swim class and time spent in Lake Michigan and the Atlantic Ocean. You love water! Every time we were in the pool, lake or ocean you were a extra happy baby! You would smile and giggle at us and through a little tantrum anytime we took you out of the water. Maybe you will be a swimmer?
Other major milestones include you eating food! and lots of it! You are very much into baby food, specifically, bananas, peaches, mangos, apricots and prunes. You will eat carrots, butternut squash and pumpkin, but you greatly dislike peas. Who can blame you though? You are also not at all interested in either oatmeal or rice cereal. You are still primarily getting all of your nutrition from milk but you are becoming less interested in milk and more interested in food every day.
You have almost mastered sitting up on your own, but still are having the occasional fall backwards and bang your head...always at the moment when mom and dad turn our backs. You are very interested in crawling and walking right now. When in a sitting position you can now move yourself into the crawling position but your attempts to crawl usually turn into either a sideways scoot or you push yourself backwards and get very frustrated. You also rock yourself back and fourth in the crawling position so we would be shocked if you aren't crawling very soon. We also would not be surprised if you walked before you crawl...or maybe even do both at about the same time. You love to scoot towards mom or dad and use our hands to get yourself from a seated position into a standing position. You also love to stand and hold onto furniture and you even attempt to walk around furniture.
Your verbal skills are also starting to develop. Sometimes when you talk to us we can even hear your little voice coming through instead of just baby babble, and it is the absolute cutest voice! You are also starting to scream (both happy and mad screams) and grunt when you want something or are trying to communicate your likes and dislikes. While the screaming can be a little annoying it is still very awesome to see you trying to communicate with us.
Another big change for both you and mommy and daddy this week is that your cousin Emmy, who has been watching you since May while mommy works, is going away to school. We are very sad that she will no longer be taking care of you as you love spending time with her and she makes you smile and laugh! You are going to be babysat by a friend of mom's but we are very nervous that it won't be the same. We are all crossing our fingers that this is going to be a smooth transition for you and you continue to be a happy and easy going baby :-)
Finally, on your 8-month birthday, mommy and daddy also celebrated their 6-year wedding anniversary. We celebrated by going out to eat at Compari's in Downtown Plymouth which is right across from the park we got married in. It was very awesome to be able to celebrate as a family and we are looking forward to many more anniversary celebrations as a family as that day more than any other is a time for us to focus on the love we have for each other and you.
We love you so much little man!

Adjectives for cute?
It seems like every time someone new meets you or we see someone that hasn't seen you in a few weeks we hear all about how adorable you are! many people even tell us that you should be a baby model. Of course your father and I are not biased at all in agreeing with them 110% :-). However it is difficult to express in words just how adorable, cute, perfect, sweet, kissable, beautiful, doll-face, gorgeous you are! ...seriously though no word does you justice sweet baby boy!
Growing Boy
Today we had your 6-month appointment at the pediatricians. You now weigh 15 pounds, are 25.5 inches long and your head circumference is 17 inches. You are in the 7th percentile for weight, 10th percentile for height and 26th percentile for head circumference. The doctor was very pleased with your growth and development. You also got a few shots and were very upset. You screamed for a solid 10 minutes. Right now, 5-hours later you are sleeping on mommy's chest because you are fussy and still upset from the shots. Mommy doesn't mind though as it means more snuggles :-). Below are a few of my favorite recent pics of you.
