On this past Friday, Will turned one month old. I know it is cliche to say, but this month has flown by! Everything still seems very surreal to Jeff and I as Will still doesn't 100% feel like 'Our Son'. Don't get me wrong, we love our Little man, and each day our love grows stronger, but we are still wrapping our heads around him being ours and not just a baby we are taking care of. The realization that we are parents and have a child that we are forever responsible for still has not sunk in.
Each month I plan to post how William is growing and the new things he is doing, so here goes.
William's greatest accomplishment in his first month of life is his discharge from the NICU. When Will was born we were told he would more than likely be in the hospital until he was at least 37 weeks old. However, Will beat the average and came home after just 12 days at 35 weeks. A day in the life of Will is pretty straightforward, he eats every 2-3 hours, and sleeps most of the time he is not eating. At night he sleeps in his room in his crib and during the day he usually naps on mom and dads chests. We are all doing great as we get used to being a family of 4, including Benji.
Will happened to have a doctors appointment on his 1 month birthday and he weighed in at 5 pounds 10 ounces and 19 inches long. Pretty incredible growth after being born at 4 pounds 6 ounces.
